About Us
We are a team of researchers and designers based in the School of Design at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, dedicated to creating positive social change for young people in a world that is constantly evolving. We are committed to producing research with tangible impact and to developing designs that contribute to a better future for children and society at large.
Specifically, we explore how social and cultural contexts shape young people’s interactions with technology, with a focus on designing engaging, inclusive, and meaningful experiences. Our work combines theoretical inquiry with practice-based research to develop tools, media, and environments that support participation, creativity, and everyday engagement across diverse settings, with learning as one important context. For example, we investigate creative ways for children to explore computing, design technologies that support inclusive and culturally responsive learning experiences, and examine how social contexts shape children’s interactions with everyday technologies. We also contribute to broader Human-Computer Interaction and design research by critically reflecting on research methodologies and examining how emerging technologies such as spatial computing and AI shape interaction, user experience, and everyday life for children and other underserved communities.
